What does a “Hit” mean?

That depends on the type of search. For a Criminal search it would mean that your identifying information matched a record found in a criminal database.

For verifications such as employment or reference, it would mean that the information you provided did not match the information researched.

If it was a Social Security Search it means that your information did not match the information retrieved.

What does a “Clear” mean?

That depends on the type of search. For a Criminal search it would mean that none of your identifying information matched any records in a criminal database.

How do I login?

2 easy steps:

I'm having trouble with my Login/Password

  • When creating/changing a password in MyBackgroundCheck.com you must be a minimum of 8 characters long, have at least one capital letter one lowercase letter, and one number.
  • When logging in, you password is case sensitive.
  • If you cannot remember your password, use the forgot password feature located on the login page. If you still have issues logging in please contact customer service.

Why has my personal information changed?

If you have received an email stating that your personal information has changed, it simply means that information in your account has been edited.

Examples of this may include:

  • Email address
  • Current home address

If you haven’t changed any info in your account and have received an email message, please contact us immediately.

Why was my email undeliverable?

There are a many reasons why your email may have been blocked: mistyped information, recipient no longer has email account, inappropriate material or some file types are blocked for security purposes (.exe, .bat, .chm, etc.). In some instances the email server sending your messages appears to be listed on a spam blacklist (and you many not even know about it). This may make it difficult for your messages to be delivered or received. Viruses can be distributed; it is possible that your machine may have been infected, which can allow your computer to be used to send spam email. If this is the case, your email address or IP may be blacklisted. Our spam blocking system synchronizes with such blacklists and hence will block anyone listed.

Sometimes the cause cannot be determined, but we still want to assist with the routing of your email to and from us. No matter the reason, we want to help.

Why won't my Credit Card work?

MyBackgroundCheck.com accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express. If you are having trouble submitting a payment, you might be failing the credit card verification service. This requires that you have the address that you have specified on your account to be an exact match to your billing address on the credit card. Be sure the address entered is the same as the address on any credit invoice received for that card and change your address in your account (located in update/edit info) if needed. If you are still having trouble processing a payment, please contact customer service.

Why is my SSN a “Hit”?

The Social Security search is not actually a verification provided by the Social Security Administration. The results are provided by a private sector that uses public resources to determine the applicants address history. The reason your Social Security Number would return a hit is simply because there was no history. This is very common for people under 21 who have limited or no credit history, or who have not moved from home. If your SSN search returned a hit and you would like to have it cleared, contact customer service.

Completing your credit report

You will be re-directed to the EQUIFAX web-site in order to finish your CREDIT REPORT. You may wish to print the following instructions.

TO COMPLETE YOUR CREDIT REPORT: You will need to do the following:

  1. Follow the instructions on the Equifax web-site to create an Equifax account.
  2. After creating the account, click on the green "Go to Member Center" button.
  3. Click on the most recent purchase “SCORE Power.”
  4. Select "Print Credit Report" and print results.
  5. Submit printed Credit Report results with your MBC Certificate to anyone who needs to review the background check information.

Using your credit report

Equifax allows you to view and print out your credit report as often as you want for a period of 30 days. Visit their site at www.MyEquifax.equifax.com.

You will need to remember the username and password you created on their site to view. There is password help at the link above if you have forgotten it.

To share your credit report, print the results from your Equifax account and provide them to anyone who needs to view them (landlords, potential employers etc.).

How do I create a viewer account?

If you have received an email saying that someone is trying to share their background information with you. For this you will need a viewer account. Don’t worry, set up is easy! First navigate to http://www.MyBackgroundCheck.com and click on the Viewer Account link on the homepage. Fill out the User Account information. Click create account.

How do I create a viewer account from a share request?

If you have received an email saying that someone is trying to share their background information with you. For this you will need a viewer account. Don’t worry, set up is easy! Click on the link in your email. Then click on the Create Viewer Account button. Fill out the User Account information. Click create account.

How do I share a background check?

If you would like to share your background check with others, it’s very easy to do. First login to your account. Once logged in, select the order tab on your dashboard. Click on the share button for the order you wish to share. Fill in the name and the email address of the person you wish to share with. Select whether you would like them to have access to a detailed report or a summary report. Click Send Invitation.

How do I request a shared background check?

Log into your account. From your Dashboard click on the Invite Friends Button. Fill out the information for the person you wish to request a background check from. Select a package from the dropdown.

How do I order a custom package?

First navigate to http://www.MyBackgroundCheck.com and click on the custom package link located at the bottom of the page. Then Select which package you wish to run from the form. Or customize your own package by choosing which individual searches are being run. Click Order Now. If you have an account click on the “Click Here” link. If not fill out the form to create your account. Follow the onscreen instructions.

How do I order a background check?

If you would like to create an account and order a background check click the “Get Your Background Check Now »” button. Then Fill out the information on the form and click the “Get Your Background Check and FREE Guide Now” button. Choose the package you wish to order. (Click on Complete package details to see searches included). Complete the form information and enter your credit information. Click Order. Complete this form to finish creating an MyBackgroundCheck.com account. Follow the onscreen instructions for adding your search information.

How do I order a background check with an order code?

If your organization has sent you an order code navigate to http://www.MyBackgroundCheck.com and type your order code into the “Have an Order Code?” box and select go. Then you will be brought to a page with a description of the package and the referring organization. If you do not have an account click Create an account. If you do have an account type in your existing information into the “Login Name” and “Password” boxes. After creating an account or logging in follow the onscreen instructions.

How do I unexpire an order?

You can unexpire all of your previous orders for $14.95 allowing you to view and share the results. Note: The information provided on your previous orders will only be accurate up to the date of original purchase. If you would like to unexpire your order so that you can share and print the information again, click on any expired order and click Review Selected. Then click on Unexpire All Orders.

How do I update my account information?

From your account dashboard click Edit/Update My Account in the top right corner. Here you can change your password, your email address, mailing address, secret question/answer and profile options.

How do I view and print a report?

Once you have logged into your account, click on the order you wish to view or print. If you wish to print the report, click the Investigative report type then click the Print Investigative report link.
